The Halal Scanner app uses your phone camera to scan product barcodes. It then checks the ingredients against our database of millions of products, instantly showing you the halal status of each ingredient. It also includes an OCR text scanner for reading ingredient lists directly.

Mushbooh (مشبوه) means 'doubtful' or 'questionable' in Arabic. An ingredient is classified as mushbooh when its halal status depends on its source — for example, gelatin can be halal (from fish or halal-slaughtered cattle) or haram (from pork). When in doubt, it's best to verify with the manufacturer or look for halal certification.
